DAFF Mask

Brief Product Description
We wanted to, like many others, create a mask that prevented the fogging of glasses when you wear it. We created the DAFF mask. DAFF stands for:
Done
Adjusting
For
Fog
The design is based off the idea of a sleep apnea mask. We wanted a mask that redirected the air flow when you breathe; therefore, when you take a breath it will go down and out the sides instead of out the top. It is a design you can take apart and clean just like you can take apart anything else to clean it. A cloth piece of your choosing is inserted into the front of the mask so that it will have the same effect as a cloth face covering. You can attach loops to the side of it in the back three different ways depending on what is comfortable to the person wearing it.

Full Description
Thinking of problems with Covid-19 we determined that the problem with glasses fogging when you breathe is a huge problem. Not only nurses who need to see to do surgeries but for common people in public areas trying to see when your glasses are fogged is not an easy task to accomplish. Whether you are trying to take notes, go shopping, or just walking around in general it can be very annoying and frustrating to walk around not being able to see where it is you are going but through a tiny hole where your glasses aren’t fogged.
To fix the issue of fogging glasses, we thought of several designs and talked about the flaws of each one until we agreed upon one, we all thought would work. It is shaped like a sleep apnea mask although the design is slightly different. It has a removeable center so you can insert the fabric to catch the particles coming in. Along the sides are slits like fish gills so the air will come down the mask and escape through the sides. The mask is 3-D printed made with a templet already made by a man known as Noah Kalnitz (Etsy.com). We took this design and modified it to our own liking and took it to the 3-D printer to get printed. The design is made of two parts: the main mask and the removeable piece to hold the cloth excluding the string to hold it and the fabric to go inside. If going to include the string and the fabric, there are a total of four pieces. Then added some string and some fabric to the center.
All the material used for this mask is listed below:
- Ninja flex
- Fabric of your choosing
- PLA plastic material for the 3-D printer
- Your choice for the straps

This product seems great for everyone, not just glasses wearers. It is the same price as any other commercial mask, and it prevents fogging.
Brandon Pitman –
I would highly recommend this product, there is nothing more annoying then when every time you breath out, you lose part of your vision for a second. This is a great design/idea, and I would happily purchase one to prevent my glasses from fogging while wearing a mask
Edwin Gutierrez –
